Centre Pompidou Mobile
Paris, France
2008
This mobile pavilion for art is made of a lightweight, luminous, and inflatable environmental structure of aluminum and membrane of ETFE. The spiral form – inspired by vernacular constructions and natural forms – leads visitors into a de-materialized space without a visible structure within.
The trapezoidal extrusions of the casework within are freestanding and modular, allowing both flexibility in overall plan and visitor flow as well as within the cases. The design was a collaboration with Explorations Architecture.
