Patti Birch - Dar al Bacha Museum

The Patti Birch Foundation wanted a Feasibility Study and Concept Design to converting the former pasha’s abandoned palace into a museum. The palace will house Ms. Birch’s collection of African, Asian, American and European art, and will include a tour of the historic architecture as well. The Feasibility demonstrated how this conversion could be done, from infrastructural upgrades to the optimal number of seats in the café. The Concept Design features complex natural day lighting mitigation strategies; and entrance, restaurant, store and gallery designs. It focuses on highlighting and enlarging existing Islamic motifs.
