This incredibly popular exhibit displayed original watercolors and sketches of the very first Babar story, History of Babar, by Jean de Brunhoff. The exhibition also featured Laurent de Brunhoff’s first “sequel” to Babar, That Rascal, Cousin Arthur. The highly restrained design focused on creating life-size reproductions of illustrated carpets featured in the pages of Babar, and a simple framing technique that distinguished the difference between a final watercolor and a sketch.
