Japan Society - Noguchi and Modern Japanese Ceramics
2003-2004 New York, New York
Best known for his abstract stone sculptures, paper lanterns, and urban parks, his pottery has often been overlooked. Also highlighted were the works of the 1950s avant-garde potters from Kyoto and Kamakura, exemplified by Yagi Kazuo and Yamada Hikaru, with whom Noguchi collaborated. Imrey Culbert used large scale photos of Noguchi's studio as backdrops to the exhibit to recall the energy of this productive period.
